Seattle ( final week) 25th March- 3rd April

On returning to Seattle from Mexico we were hoping to take advantage of the weather, being the start of  spring,  however it seemed colder than ever with lots more rain which was very heavy. We took advantage of the situation and enjoyed the relaxation of becoming movie bods, something we have not done since we left England. Seven  months is quite a long time  not watching  tv, so it was a  nice change for both of us.

Within the week we managed to get a bit of sun one afternoon so we were able to  go for a walk  in Snoqualmie, which  is vey hilly.   The walk seemed quite exherting as we had not done any uphill walks since New Zealand. The terrain was absoluteley beautiful  with lots of high mountains (which still had snow on at the end of March) and masses of  pine trees. It was  also really great of Jacqueline and Michael to loan us their Jeep to get ourselves  out and about.

The walk looked scary at times, the trees were weird as they were covered in layers of thick moss.

Within the week we  also managed to fit in a day skiing at Snoqualmie Central Summitt, 40 minutes drive from J and M's  house.. It looked as if there was a good variety of  slopes but unfortunatley some were closed on the day we arrived. This was not because there was not enough snow, quite the contrary as on  the previous days we were experiencing the rain on the lower ground  while the slopes were getting around 16 inches of snow.

We personnally felt the Central Summit was excellent for experienced or beginner skiers, as most of the slopes were black or blue (Europe blue is the red equivelent in America and Cananda, they don't bother grading red slopes, they go from blue to black ) with some green slopes on the lower parts of the mountain, but the blue ones were still a bit difficult for me. Steve was ok with them. Within a small area of Snoqualmie   there are  also three different ski slopes  so they may have been a bit different.to what we experienced at the Summit

We experienced the local casino again which we enjoyed and a variety of small local bars each one having their own uniqueness. Unfortunatley there were no bars within walking distance so poor Michael drove us everywhere.

On our tour around Seattle we visited a gun shop whilst at a shopping mall, curiosity got the better off us  as we wanted to know what the  rules were in America for buying guns. We could not believe that you could just walk off the street and buy a gun or rifle at any time
Holding a real gun

Overall we had a great  time  in Seattle and  it was very very relaxing after our hectic seven months  of travelling and living out of a rucksack. we are now ready and prepared  for our next  road trip.
.
The first destantaion will be  flying to San Francisco.  So  once again we are  really excited about the next part of  our journey.
